'Tis the season
With the Christmas holidays well and truly over and as the Chinese New Year celebrations are coming to an end, I now have time to reflect on what an amazing last two months it has been. A time to be thankful of what we have to offer our holiday makers. From the stunning Whitehaven Beach, our beautiful Great Barrier Reef, 74 islands and fab hip little town called Airlie Beach. The tropical surrounding areas, sugarcane carpeted fields to the culinary delights of the Whitsundays. Whether it’s an international visitors first Aussie meat pie, a jug of beer in a pub garden, devouring a 7 course degustation, first taste of a mud crab and other enchanted tastes from our surrounding Coral Sea and waterways. The food festivals that were held, to every Saturday market day, with a selection of treats on offer. In fact, any of the wonderful meals and memories our town and islands have been able to deliver.
Treasured holiday memories. So many happy memories do come from the times of sharing food with friends and family.
It’s now also a time for me, to be so thankful for the amazing restaurant and catering team, Fish D’vine has. A team that under pressure and believe me, yes they have been. It’s called the silly season for a reason, a reason any hospitality staff knows too well. It’s a time when our hospitality family just god damn shine. As the stress levels rise, so does the commitment, the banter, the giggles, the aches and pains and the strength of an exceptional hospitality team. Our family team. The one I have a love for that blows me away. A team, where thank you can never and will never be enough. A team that work their arses off when so many others are out here having a good time. Public holidays I think their called, Ha, public? (Ha, my dig) A team that unites together better than any well-oiled machine I’ve ever seen or heard of.
It does have to be said though; “Thank you” and bring on our Christmas party, and time for us all to be on the other side of the fence. A time for us to say thanks.
So as 2016 settles in and plans for the future start to take off. New weddings to plan, a new restaurant menu to create, new projects to start, new functions to cater and who knows what else is around the corner. Our motto is Fish D’vine and D’vine Catering can do anything and it has been proven time and time again, that yes our team can.
It’s a time for autumn culinary tastes, colours and textures, new blogs with tips, recipes and heaps of inspiration. One of my favourite times of year for new creations. And yes, time for new Masterclasses and I can’t wait. I will start in March and post very soon what will be on offer.
2016 so far has been an amazing wild ride full of passion, great times, busy nights and long days. It is hospitality life and a life I would never change for anything. Food junkie, chef and restaurateur. What more could a woman want for. Nothing for me that’s for sure!!
